The Christmas Truck

It seems antique trucks with a Christmas motif are hot decorative items for the Christmas season 2018, especially those in a bright, Christmassy red. As with any decoration trend she likes, my Mom set her sights on recreating it with things found around the house, and on the cheap.

What started out as my Dad's 1:18 scale Chevy pickup quickly turned into a Christmas truck, complete with home made grill wreath, snow covered trees in the bed and a fluffy blanket of snow covering the display base.
The 1:18 scale model of a 1953 Chevy C3100 was the perfect fit to be decked out in Christmas apparel. Mom had a collection of snowy tree branches as well as a small, pre-decorated Christmas tree and placed them into the bed of the truck. She still felt as if something was missing, so she then made herself a wreath for the grill of the old truck with some wired garland. After frosting some of the tips with white paint and painstakingly tying a red bow, the wreath was done.

With the bed filled and the wreath hung over the grill, the truck still wasn't done. Even though this truck won't be traveling to Grandma's house, Mom still felt it needed a bed of snow through which to traverse. After a few ideas were discussed Mom finally managed to get the soft white fabric to lay underneath the truck and look really nice, giving the truck a complete Christmas truck look and feel.
